Bogoroditza, she who gave birth to god, mary, is at the heart of Catherine deHueck Doherty's spiritual legacy. Over thirty books have been published from her writings including the spiritual classis Poustinia, the first of her five - volume series on Russian spirituality. Catherine passed through most of the major cataclysms of our age: World war I, the Russian Revolution, the Great Depression of the thirties, and world war II. She underwent the experience of being a refugee, and knew rejection and persecution for the Gospel's sake as she fought against racial prejudice, struggled for social justice and wept at the scandal of a sometimes all-too-human church.
